Stephen U. Harris, MD FACS

Dr. Stephen U. Harris, a board certified plastic surgeon, has extensive experience with today's most advanced surgical techniques. He is known for his excellence in many areas of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery including facial aesthetic surgery, body contouring and both cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery.

Dr. Harris is chief of plastic surgery at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and is an active staff surgeon at West Islip's Good Samaritan Hospital. His impressive medical training includes his M.D. degree from Boston University's six year B.A./M.D. program,from which he graduated magna cum laude, his general surgical training at the New York Hospital - Cornell University Medical Center, and his plastic surgical training at Emory University, which was followed by a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital - Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Harris is highly skilled in aesthetic surgery. While at Emory University, he taught endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques used in facial procedures, breast enlargement, and body contouring to visiting surgeons from all over the world. Dr. Harris worked closely with Dr. John Bostwick of Emory University, a pioneer in reconstructive breast surgery. He worked on perfecting tissue transfer techniques for use in breast reconstruction. Dr. Harris is also an active clinical member of the Cleft Lip and Palate Teams at North Shore University Hospital and St. Charles Hospital. He has traveled on a charitable mission to Honduras with a team of specialists, organized through St. Charles, to provide reconstructive surgery to under-served patients there. He has special expertise in microsurgical reconstruction for trauma, cancer, and congenital conditions anywhere on the human body.

Dr. Harris is an active member of numerous medical societies, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Nassau and Suffolk Medical Societies, the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association.
